Thirteen?!? Really?

I’ve always been interested in putting myself out there. That’s what my blog is for me. It’s a way to share my voice while creating an atmosphere of something I love to do: improve. The catch, however, is that I’m thirteen years old.

This fact alone has many stuttered. Not every day do you come across a thirteen year old blogger. But it looks like today, you have done just that.

Now – I think – there are a few primary reasons why you would hesitate upon finding out I am thirteen:

  1. I provide content that you find beneficial. Your common thought passage leads you to believe no one can give you anything useful until they are a college graduate. This is false.
  2. Teenagers keep to their own on the ‘net. This is partially true. For the most part roaming Facebook and Myspace is all that is ever on their mind. While I do fit this breed partially, it’s not all I care about.

Why did I decide to start blogging?

As stated before, I needed a way to share my ideas. Why so young? Why not. You’re never too young to start a journey. This blog is my journey.

For some history on me, just picture a normal kid. Because really: that is all I am. I go to school, I have fun. (Also just did an interview, I’ll link you guys up to that soon.)

As one of my blogger friends told me, you have to pick your poison when revealing your age. People will either not believe you or want to have your age proved. So I’ll let you think what you want.

Hopefully very far Bud! Hope to see you at Command Your Time five years from now – and every day in between!

The discussions will continue with quality posts, my man! Look forward to see you at Command Your Time as well!

I have most definitely learned many amazing things from a number of teenagers. Glad to have discovered you here proving the teen-bashers wrong!

Great work starting at such a young age Dan, your writing is clear, concise and inspirational.

Keep it up! I look forward to following your journey.

  6. Whether you are 13 or 30 everyone has something to say and you do it a lot better than most 13 year olds and some 30 year olds!

I use to write on a reviewing site and there was this 13 year old boy who wrote some amazing and opinionated reviews. Many people didn’t believe he was 13 or that the reviews were actually written by him. Now 5 years on he runs his own business and is well on his way to financial freedom before he hits 20. It’s never too young to start.

  7. I think your blog is great. You have great stuff on here and I enjoy checking it out. Age is just a number! :)

  8. I think what you’re doing is truly amazing. It would be amazing for an 18 year old! Do you write your articles and design your website by yourself?

Either way, keep up the great work.

    Tim

Wendy – Teenagers can do more than people think. The world loves the underdog anyhow.

Mike - That’s what I am for! The compliment is much appreciated.

Andy - That is, somewhat, the life I look to lead. Where do I see myself in five years? Owning my own business, while simultaneously managing college.

    Positively Present
    – Appreciate it! Comments like these make my day!

Timothy - I write the articles, but unfortunately do not have the brain capacity to build an excellent theme like this. Command Your Time runs on the Frugal Theme.

Age rarely reflects talent, you are using yours well, both age and talent.

  11. jan geronimo says:

Okay, I’d own up. Initially, I was surprised and somewhat flustered that someone so young can write so well and with sense at that. Guess, that’s for living in this part of the world where kids are frivolous, noisy and – well, childish.

Well, the thing is, I got used to it. The fascination is over. And I’m eager to listen to what you’ve to say. Learn even, this too.

  12. Dan Miranda says:

Trna – Can’t thank you enough for the support and enthusiasm Trna!

Jan – I’ll assume everyone was when they met me online. And that was the point of this post… or at least somewhat. To take the “shock” out of their system so they can really start to listen.

  13. floreta says:

i admit i wondered if you were real! your writing and thoughts are so advanced for your age :D i find it amazing. also, your blog shows you can think outside of yourself. well done.

    • Dan Miranda says:

I really appreciate that compliment. Those comments are the ones that help me advance as a human being.

Anyhow, I’m real as can be floreta. :) For more information on that you can check out my post right under this one: “Thirteen?!? Really?”

  14. I was taking college classes at 13 (and attending middle school, too); now, I’m a mother with a 20-year-old and a 13-year-old. I’d be the LAST person to underestimate a kid because of his age. Intelligent as you are, I’ll bet you have moments when you’re just as goofy as the next 13-year-old. And I’ll bet more 13-year-olds would have some intelligent wisdom to impart if only they thought the world would listen.

  15. elmot says:

the old school would say, you are too young, i am older than you, i experienced this and that…why should i listen to you? those are the old ways…

thanks dan for going out your way and sharing all your thoughts despite being this young…it is not in the age indeed. our elders should also learn from the youth isn’t it?

    • Dan Miranda says:

Holly Bright the young one, weren’t you. And you are right indeed, I love to joke around. I’m not always Mr. Business Man.

elmot That’s what I try to do. Bust those old ways out of the waters. ;)

Miguel de Luis I love that quote. Really, I do. So much so that it’s going on the first line of my about page. Thanks!

  16. Hi Dan

There’s something I could have told my students once or twice:
“If you are too young to do something, don’t worry, soon you’ll be too old”.

  17. Joshua says:

Your age doesn’t matter, wisdom and insight can come from any source and it’s awesome to see you pursuing your passion :)

  18. Grace says:

I admit I was surprised when I stumbled upon your site but you know what Dan? (I think you already know but I’ll say it anyway): You’re a real inspiration!

Keep it up. I can’t wait to see what other gems you have to share with us. :)

  19. Lisa says:

Dan, wow is all I can say. When I was 13, I still had my heads up in the clouds and worried about boys and maybe how to skip class the next day. 13 is a great age, you’re a new teenager and you’re already ahead of the game in life. Continue to share your thoughts, it’s nice to have a refreshing view from the other side and maybe it’ll help me better see what my kids are thinking too. You have my loyal readership :)
